Σύνοψη

The purpose of this project was to design a data dictionary software system that would enable the maintenance of data on various entities of a database environment.
An analysis of the requirements was carried out and information on some commercially available data dictionary products was obtained.
Using the result of the analysis the data structures of the system were designed and normalized in order to provide stability.
During the design of the data structures care was taken to make them flexible and allow future expansion of the system at as little cost, as possible.
The various procedures for the maintenance of the data dictionary were later designed and transformed into FOXBASE programs.
During the procedure design care was taken in order to quarantee the integrity and consistency of the data stored in the dictionary .The procedures programs were
translated into with user - friendliness and easy of operation in mind.
The resulting data - dictionary software although it does not competitively compare in power with commercially available packages it provides all the basic functions necessary for data dictionary keeping.
