Σύνοψη

The main objective of our diploma project is to produce a topographical map of an area chosen by us.
The whole project was divided into seven steps the first of which was to choose and fix the position of the stations. This was done after a reconnaisance survey of the area. The second step was to fit the position of the main existing features within the area surveyed.
The following step was to find the reduced level of the station using levelling.
Traverse survey was the third step which was done after dividing our area into seven smaller parts for greater accuracy. As starting point st. 2 was taken.
The fifth step was contouring. The contouring survey was
based on the levels of the stations found from levelling syrvey. The method used was the spot contouring and tacheornetry was used forftis.
The sixth step and the last of the field work was to do triangulation method which was done for only a small part of the area due to lack of time - in order to show the procedure of the method.
The last step was to report the above work and to draw five maps being :
(1) Chain lines
(2) Detail
(3) Traverse
(4) Contouring
(5) Final map
