Σύνοψη

The main duty and responsibility of a Civil Engineer is to be able to design a project behave major objectives which are:
- Max safety
- Lowest final cost
The civil engineer must satisfy these two objectives to make a satisfy design and the practical solution of these two objectives is the selection of the suitable building materials and finishes. Structure suitable building materials and finishes can be named all the materials which satisfy the specifications of the structure.

- Use
- History
- Cost
- Chemical character
- Mechanical character
- Maintenance
All the above are functions which give us the specifications of a building material.
That project will compare information which have been taken from the factories which produce or companies which import the building materials and finishes. Comments will be taken about these functions above.
The building materials are divided into 3 categories which are:
(a) The building material of the main structure
(b) The finishes materials
(c) The insulation -protection- maintenance (Table 1)
By comparing the materials one by the other useful comments can be concluded.
