The main objective of this project was to investigate experimentally the influence of silt content present in aggregates on the strength and workability of concrete.
Six castings where prepared, one of which was used as trial mix. The trial mix was carried out in order to find out the proportions to be used which give a d,esirable workable mix. This trial mix was carried out with both a) oven dried and b) fully saturated aggregates and in the case of later, the desirable workability and strength was obtained.
It has been found that the strength does not vary in proportion with the percentage increase of silt content. A decrease in the workability has been observed for 15% up to 25% silt content.
