The Internet Virtual Retail Shopping System for a Multistore is a project developed and submitted in partial fulfillment for the award of the Higher Technical Institute
Diploma in the field of Computer Studies.
The project's main objective is to allow people to do their shopping from a specific supermarket through the Internet. The system will offer a new way of shopping from a supermarket through the Internet as well as database management from the manager's point of view.
As concerning the Internet side of the project, the users will be able to enter through the Internet into the system, register themselves and do their shopping as if they were
actually at a supermarket. When someone logs successfully into the system, he/she will be free to navigate through the supermarket, to look at the available products of the supermarket, to see different information about these products and finally select which products is willing to buy in an interactive way. When a user selects a product, the system will show information concerning that product, as well as whether the product is available or not. When the customer finishes shopping, then the system will handle the customer order with costing facilities. The system will also be able to check the customer credit, in order for the purchase to be able to take place.
As concerning the Back Office side of the project, the manager of the supermarket will be able to maintain the database of the system, which will include customer, supplier, product maintenance as well as other facilities like reports on product purchases, product availability and others. The manager will also be able to place orders, to change product prices, to output reports concerning purchases of a specific product, monthly product sales per period, customer total purchases per month, etc.
Finally, the system will provide an on-line help facility that will be available for the users either at specific parts of the system or under a special help option of the system.
