Frame design is one of the oldest methods to construct buildings
or bridges. But their time they use timber members.
In our time we use steel trusses with great sections that we have
in the market (UB, UC, SHS, est.).
Truss is a structure with straight pieces of metal. The pieces
form a series of triangles, which support a load. When properly
designed, these pieces are placed under tension and compression
without bending.
There are several types of trusses, the king post truss, the fink,
and the crescent, and others.
King Post:
A truss in which the vertical member connects the apex with the
base of the triangle.
Fink:
A truss with a complicate system of triangular members.
