We are in the midst of a technological revolution that is changing our way of life. The cornerstone of this revolution the computer, is transforming the way we communicate, do business, and learn.
Twenty years ago, space and distance were formidable obstacles to what we could and could not do with the computer. But today data communications have removed these obstacles. Computers with capabilities similar to those of the mainframe computers of the early 1960's are about the
size of a fingernail.
Computer aided design and drafting has been around since 1964. However it was not widely used until around 1985, when CAD system such as AUTO CAD became available on microcomputers. since then the number of CAD users has grown steadily. It provides a set of entities for use in constructing a drawing.
An entity is a predefined element that is placed in a drawing by means of a single command.
Lines, arcs and circles are entities used frequently. You are about to embark on an emotional and intellectual journey that will stimulate your imagination, challenge your every resource from physical dexterity to intellect and , perhaps, alter your sense of perspective.
